Welcome to a new vision of Ecuador and the Choco rainforest.

True sustainable development comes from a country’s people, through community initiatives and ecological projects such as ecotourism, conservation and volunteer work.

This is what Kumanii lodge stands for, sustainable development, the lodge belongs to foundation Kumanii and is run by local indigenous people. The Chachi and Afro Ecuadorian tribes that live in the Ecuadorian Choco are in charge of the operation of Kumanii lodge. The reservations and marketing have been appointed to Latin Trails an Ecuador based tour operator with offices in the United States. Together we have partnered to offer top of the line rainforest expeditions and sustainable development for local communities. 

We believe that by promoting responsible tourism to the Choco rainforest, we will  offer alternative economic development for an area endangered by irresponsible loging and non sustainable forestry practices.

Local communities have agreed to protect their rainforest in exchange for work as tour guides and conservation efforts at Kumanii foundation. With your help we hope to preserve this unique biodiversity hot spot for future generations.
